Dr. Rebecca Clark received the P-12 Master Dance Educator Award!

Ms. Rebecca Clark earned a BFA in dance performance and education from Towson University and a MS degree in curriculum and instruction with a focus on administration from McDaniel College. She has taught 19 years in the Maryland Public School System with 16 of those years at Centennial High School (CHS) in Howard County, MD. She served as an executive board member for the Maryland Council for Dance as well as the board of directors for the Maryland Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (MAHPERD). Currently she is CHS’s physical education and fine arts instructional team leader. As a full-time dance educator at CHS, she teaches seven levels of dance classes that include technique, repertoire, and independent research. Her students not only have the opportunity to perform, but she mentors many to take on leadership roles such as teaching curriculum, choreography, and production. As the Delta Eta Pi honor society sponsor, Rebecca feels strongly about celebrating the diversity of the Centennial community and aims to create community connections through dance. Productions such as WorldFest and Dancing with the Staff reach families beyond the dancers in her classes. Additionally, Ms. Clark holds her certification in Administration & Supervision and is a Certified Athletic Administrator through the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association. Awards received include the MAHPERD Simon McNeely Award and its Maryland Dance Educator of the Year Award, as well as the Eastern District of AAHPERD Dance Educator of the Year Award. NDS is delighted to recognize Rebecca Clark as its 2019 P-12 Dance Master Educator Award recipient.
