Ms. Allison Wilkins received the Undergraduate Dance Excellence Award!

Ms. Allison Wilkins is a senior at Washington College and has been dancing since the age of three. Her love of dance started with ballet and soon expanded into multiple, different areas including jazz, contemporary, and modern. Throughout high school, Ms. Wilkins studied at Kirov Academy of Ballet, Dance Conservatory, and First State Dance Academy. She also competed in the Youth American Grand Prix International Dance Competition, where she placed in the Top 24 in the Classical Ballet Division. Ms. Wilkins is president of the Washington College chapter of Delta Eta Pi dance honor society and vice president of Dance Club. Through these and other organizations she is involved on campus, she shares her love of dance throughout the community by teaching at local high schools. She also helps girls in the local Girl Scout troop earn their dance badges. Ms. Wilkins has traveled to local retirement homes to perform and listen to the elderly tell stories about ways dance impacted their lives. In her time at Washington College, Ms. Wilkins has thoroughly enjoyed learning about marine biology and hopes to dedicate her future to ocean clean up and nursing sick marine animals back to health. Regarding future dance aspects, she hopes to continue teaching and choreographing dances wherever life takes her. The NDS is proud to award the Undergraduate Dance Excellence Award to Ms. Allison Wilkins.
