Ms. Pamella Washburn received the P-12 Master Dance Educator Award.

Pamella Washburn received her BFA in dance, with an emphasis in ballet, from William Woods College. During her senior year, she completed an internship with the Lexington Ballet Company in Kentucky. She also received a gifted education endorsement from the University of Virginia (UVA). Presently, she is serving as vice-president of the dance division for the Virginia Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (VAHPERD). She has taught 19 years for Virginia Beach City Public Schools. Currently, she is a gifted dance specialist for the Gifted Dance Education Program where she teaches upper level ballet classes, creative dance, and dance perspectives (dance history and science). She also teaches dance classes for the PTA dance club. Previously, she was a dance teacher for the Visual and Performing Arts Academy at Salem High School (Virginia Beach) where she was lead teacher for the department. She also received the Teacher of the Month award. She wrote written dance curriculums for both schools. Prior to this, she was a ballet teacher for the Virginia Governors School for the Arts. Pamella also was an instructor of dance (ballet) at William Woods College. While there, she began the first community dance program in the area.
