Dr. Cynthia (Cindy) Herndon
2022 NDS Dance Honor Award Recipient
Dr. Cynthia (Cindy) Herndon is a dance educator, emerita professor from the University of Northern Iowa. She spent her career teaching at the post-secondary level but worked with PK-12 students to the older adult, 65-85. Throughout her career, she has received high accolades for her thorough and methodical approaches throughout the years of planning and program implementation. Dr. Herndon offers lifelong contributions to inspire others in the dance profession. She was crucial to the advocacy of dance programing in the state of Iowa and throughout the nine Central District states. Dr. Herndon continues to serve on advisory boards and is recognized as an influential leader with her recognition in 2005 as Educator of the Year. She serves as a positive role model for those entering the field of dance education and for experienced educators.
